Your website is the mainstay of your online business.
The experience it delivers to the visitor sets the tone of your relationship with them.
While we put a lot of effort into content creation and consumption, sometimes we forget other aspects of visitor interaction like survey participation, email collection, etc.
Each of these interactions is delivering an experience that will either turn a visitor into a fan or a foe, therefore it becomes important that we optimize it with the help of technology.
Thankfully, we have numerous tools at our disposal which handle these important interactions without causing any troubles for us.
Let’s take a look at them, shall we?
If you’re running an online business, it’s a sin to not capture email ids. Email lead capture and automation technology have grown leaps and bounds in the last five years. There is a stark improvement in tools to create awesome looking lead capture opt-in boxes, ribbons, scroll mats, sliders, etc.
Here are three recommended lead capture tools that you can use:
Thrive Leads is certainly one of the best lead capture tools available in the market today.
It’s a WordPress plugin that allows you to quickly create great-looking opt-in boxes, pop-ups, scroll mats, ribbons, and sliders. It’s extremely easy to use and the drag and drop interface is highly intuitive.
You can easily connect a Thrive Lead box to an email service (such as MailChimp, or ConvertKit, or Drip).
It also allows you to quickly create content upgrades that can really make a difference in email collection. The plugin comes with a lot of pre-designed templates and you can easily select these pre-made templates and edit it according to your needs.
Pricing: If you only want to get the Thrive Leads plugin, it will cost you $67 for 1 site and $97 for 5 sites and $147 for 15 sites. Another way to get it is to enroll for their yearly membership ($228). With their yearly membership, you get access to all their awesome plugins and themes, as well as access to any new plugin/themes launched in the future.
Sumo (previously Sumome) is another big name in the world of email opt-in boxes and lead captures.
Sumo comes with a lot of bells and whistles such as beautiful opt-in boxes (that you can design and edit), scrollbar, ribbons, sliders, push notifications, content upgrades, autoresponders, social sharing, etc. However, you might have to shell a lot of money to get all these features.
Sumo is easy to install and works on many different platforms such as WordPress, Squarespace, Weebly, Blogger.
Pricing: Over the years Sumo has changed its pricing structure quite a bit and now have a structure where you can use it for FREE with up to 200 email captures.
If you’re in the initial stages and don’t want to invest in email capture tools, you can start with SUMO’s free plan.
But if you’re getting more visitors and email leads, you’ll have to pay $24/month for up to 750 subscribers and $59/month for more than 750.
Collecting information (such as feedback/surveys) from users should be a seamless experience for….users!
When they are spending time on your site and are kind enough to provide the information you are seeking, it is only fair to ensure that it doesn’t turn into their worst nightmare.
Google Forms is one of the best choices if you are planning to run a one-off survey or don’t collect information regularly from your users. You can choose from various questions type like multiple choice, checkboxes, linear scale, etc.
You can divide your form into various sections, customize by adding images, add conditional logic too.
The biggest advantage of Google Forms is the availability of responses on Google Sheets. Given the depth of functionality in Google Sheets, the analysis and interpretation of the responses become super easy.
Pricing – Free
Typeform is a fun way to collect data. The drag-and-drop format makes it simple to design forms quickly. This feature is helpful if a team is working on creating a form and needs to make a lot of edits/re-ordering.
If your user has interacted with you previously, you can use previous information to populate questions and provide a better experience. You can also send automatic emails on updates, new offers, etc. to users with this tool.
Options are available to customize the look and feel, buttons, icons as per your theme or objective.
Pricing – FREE for up to 100 responses with 10 fields per Typeform. So, if you are looking to collect data from a specific set or conduct a selective survey, you can try the Basic version.
Pro version comes at $30/month when billed annually, it covers most functions a small or growing organization would need, in our opinion. You can send email notifications, customize logic, try automation.
Pro+ version for bigger brands starts at $59/month when billed annually. Along with all the features of the Pro version, it offers advanced features like adding calculator feature, conditional logic, etc. The biggest advantage of the plan is integration with MailChimp, which makes it easy to collect information from your email subscribers. The pricing the other per user, however additional team members can be added.
Live chat is another way to interact with your site visitors. It is especially useful if you have an online store or subscription-based business of any kind.
If your potential customers need more information or have a question, you can resolve the issue then and there. Perhaps, you can try to use for email capture too, if it is feasible for your industry.
Most chat tools give you an option to set them up for one particular page as well. It may be beneficial in case you’re doing a product launch and you want to provide live chat functionality for a few specific pages only.
If your business does not warrant constant connectivity or you want to test waters to ascertain if you’d be able to manage chats, you can start with tawk.to.
It is a free tool which provides information on visitors’ country, IP addresses, and ISP. The tool is quick and easy to implement. It also offers other features like trigger-based engagement with visitors.
Pricing – Free
Drift offers a lot more than live chat like bots to for lead qualification and sales follow-up. So, if your business is growing and you want to manage leads better, you may want to try Drift.
As explained on their site, once you install Drift, your visitors can start talking to you directly from your site. By asking for your site visitor’s email, Drift will automatically turn that record into a lead in your account. It also integrates with other tools like Slack, Zapier, etc.
Pricing – You can start with the FREE Personal plan which lets you maintain 100 contacts and provides integration with Slack. This is beneficial if your lead volume is low or if you assign leads for the follow-up to your team members. This plan also offers coupled Email functionality for better follow-up.
LiveChat is a premium product in the segment.
If you are planning to build a customer support team, LiveChat is one of the best tools to use.
Apart from the ‘standard’ chat features like notifications, intelligent chat distribution amongst agents, pre and post-chat survey, it also provides team management features.
These features help in tracking team performance. Integration with popular tools like Dropbox, Salesforce, helps in streamlining the information flow between teams and customers.
The great feature about Live Chat is its iOS app. No matter where you’re it allows you to be always online and tend to your visitors.
Pricing – The Starter pack is priced at $16 per seat when billed annually. It includes basic chat customization, ticketing system and tracking for up to 100 visitors. According to us, the starter pack is quite generous and should be able to cater to most of your needs.
Additional plans include Team, Business, and Enterprise. More information about LiveChat pricing can be found here.
