How To Be Happy In High School and Make It The Best Time Of Your Life

There’s just so much to do as a high school student, and it’s more than academics. When you take a look at the bigger picture, it’s the whole drama of being a high school student that simply gets to you. Yes, you’re worried about Algebra and Physics, but you and your BFF fighting, all the gossiping and the jumble of relationship issues may seem to consume you more. And it takes a big bunch of your precious time. Is it ever possible to be happy in high school?

There’s your ACT or SAT coming, but you and your boyfriend are having a squabble about not spending enough time with each other. So how can you focus on your ACT test prep? Worse, you’re even wondering about whether you’re going to take the ACT vs SAT. How can you ever find the time and space to be happy as a high school student when that happens to be a lost idea, after all!

Fret not, because it is not impossible to be happy in high school. The key to achieving happiness and confidence as a high school student is to maintain balance. You have to be on top of your game, so to speak. Here are 3 valuable tips to guide you about how to be happy as a high school student.

  1. Avoid getting caught up in the drama. Consider that high school life is fully-laden with social dramas. Other than with your peers, classmates, and friends, issues with your teachers and parents might crop up, too. Keep yourself away from these conundrums as much as possible. You can be a shoulder to cry on, or you can give your two cents about your chum’s boyfriend dilemmas, but don’t let these circumstances become too big in your life. Don’t let them become all that matters in your existence. Or else you’ll become miserable. So be kind to yourself and do you a favor by avoiding the dramas of high school.
  2. Be focused on yourself and know what you want. What should you be doing now? Are you going to take the ACT or the SAT? What other standardized exams are you considering? Where will you go to college? What course are you going to take up? What career do you want to pursue in the future? Your parents, teachers and your school counselor will have a lot to say and possibly impose on you. Their guidance could be well-appreciated, but what do you really want? Doing what you want or love will undoubtedly make you happy, so go for it. Ask for the advice of people you trust, but listen to what your better senses say. Don’t suck yourself dry by taking in what everybody is saying and keeping up with their expectations. You know what’s best for you.
  3. Keep your cool and relax. High school can be very stressful because of the curriculum matters and the social dramas that you have to deal with. Before you know it, they have already consumed your time. But don’t let these concerns get the better of you. Time goes by swiftly, and pretty soon, high school is over and you’ll find yourself dealing with the real world. Do things right so that you won’t have an inch of regret.

With everything said and done, and tumultuous as it may seem, looking back 35 years from now, chances are that you’re apt to say that high school still was the best time of your life. It may be tough, but make the most of your time in high school, anyway. But remember, it is just high school, and don’t let it get in the way of you seeing the bigger scenario. So breathe and relax because high school is merely one short segment of your life, and there’s a long way to go for you to be a totally happy and fulfilled individual, contentedly saying about high school that “All is well that ends well”.
