If you’re an entrepreneur, you know that one of the most important aspects of your job is convincing people to believe in your product or service. Whether you’re trying to get people to invest in your company or simply trying to get them to understand why your company’s services are needed, persuasion is key. And one of the best ways to persuade people is through public relations.
Mario Sarceno, Founder of Outbrand, shares, “PR is all about creating and maintaining a positive image for your company in the eyes of the public. By ensuring that the media and other influential third parties are regularly singing your praises, you can create an environment in which people are predisposed to believe what you say about your business.” In this blog post, I’ll share a few tips Outbrand Founder Mario Sarceno shared on how to use PR to convince people to believe in your business.
Finally, don’t forget about social media. In today’s digital world, more and more people are getting their news from online sources, which means that it’s more important than ever to make sure that you have a strong presence on social media. Post regular updates about your business, interact with customers and followers and make sure that your branding is consistent across all platforms.
Get News Coverage
Another great way to make people believe in your business is by getting news coverage. This could be anything from getting featured in a local publication to being interviewed on a popular podcast. The key here is to make sure that you’re actively seeking out opportunities for press coverage; don’t just wait for someone to come to you.
“The difference this makes is epic. It sounds superficial, but there are people on the fence about working with the company that will be pushed to work with you if Entrepreneur features a small blurb about you on their site,” shares Sarceno. With this, it’s no longer you talking about how great you are, your brand now carries the gravitas of a news outlet people know, like, and trust.
Create Useful Content
Content is at its best when it is catered to the needs, hopes, and desires of the audience you’re working with. What are the keywords that your target audience needs to hear to have the epiphany that your company is the company they want to work with? Knowing this will not only help you craft a clear, simple message, but it will also help you know how you should conduct your sales calls, outbound messaging, and advertising campaigns.
Sometimes it’s not enough to exist online and get news coverage. Sometimes you need to actually showcase that you know what you’re talking about to let people know you’re the authority in your industry, so when you get a shot at media coverage, be selfless and give value. That will do a lot more for your brand than talking yourself up ever will.
As a startup, it’s important to be able to convince people to believe in your product or service. And one of the best ways to do that is through public relations. By establishing yourself as a credible source, getting news coverage, and monitoring social media, you can create an environment in which people are predisposed to believe what you say about your business. This is a tried and true way to get people to believe in what you’re selling.
