Having flawless skin is something most people desire, but only a handful can achieve. Our skin is a direct reflection of our lifestyle. The healthier the regime, the healthier the skin. Although managing the balance between your busy everyday life and looking after your skin can be difficult. Also, not everyone is willing to spend money on the best face masks for hyperpigmentation available in the market. Well, if that’s the case with you, we’ve got you covered!
What is Hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition in which patches of skin become darker than the normal surrounding skin. Melanin is the pigment that gives our skin its color. Deposition of the excess of melanin in some spots of the skin causes hyperpigmentation.
How to Deal With Hyperpigmentation?
There are many effective ways to treat hyperpigmentation naturally. These home remedies work as the best face mask for hyperpigmentation and are affordable as well as convenient to use.
1. Raw Potatoes as Face Mask:
Raw potatoes are highly effective when it comes to skin lightening or reducing dark spots on the skin. They contain an enzyme called Catecholase, which limits the unnecessary melanin production within the skin. Rubbing the raw potato on the skin, thrice a day can do the trick.
2. Turmeric Face Mask:
Anti-inflammatory properties are found in Turmeric. It lightens pigmentation and reduces blemishes on the skin. Making a mask using turmeric can help fighting hyperpigmentation. All you need to do is mix turmeric, raw honey, Aloe-Vera and full-fat yogurt with lemon or cucumber juice and mix it till it’s spreadable and not too runny. Then you have to apply the mask on your face and once dry, rinse it off with warm water. Turmeric face masks are considered to be the best face mask for hyperpigmentation.
3. Lemon Juice as Face Mask:
Lemon juice has Vitamin C, which is very beneficial for our skin and probably the reason why lemon is considered to be one of the best natural skin brighteners. Its high citric acid content works as an exfoliant and controls hyperpigmentation in the skin. All you have to do is, slice a lemon and extract its juice. Use the juice as a mask and apply it over your dark spots. Let the juice sit for 10 minutes and then rinse it off thoroughly to reveal lighter and softer skin. Always remember never to apply lemon juice directly to dry or irritated skin. Apply the juice with either honey or Aloe-Vera to reduce the sting.
4. Yogurt Face Mask:
Yogurt has properties to fight hyperpigmentation, which makes it another non-complex and easily available weapon against hyperpigmentation. It largely constitutes of lactic acid which slows down the growth of melanocytes. Melanocytes cells produce melanin. Apart from that, yogurt acts as an exfoliant and helps in improving the texture of the skin. All that is to be done is to apply full-fat plain yogurt to the affected areas and let it sit for 20 minutes. After which, rinse it off with lukewarm water. The mask is to be applied a week thrice for effective results.
5. Raw Honey:
Raw honey works as a moisturizer and nourishes the skin. It dissolves the dead skin cells and reveals the new skin cells beneath. The turnover of the cells helps in quicker disappearance of hyperpigmentation. Using honey as a face mask instead of your regular face, the cleanser can do the trick. Apply it thrice a week for best results.
6. Sandalwood Face Mask:
Sandalwood is the oldest trick in the book of preventing and curing hyperpigmentation. It works as a blood purifier which reduces pigmentation and also treats the dark spots on the skin. All you have to do is make a paste by mixing sandalwood powder with rose water. Then, apply the paste on the affected areas of the face and let it sit for 30 minutes or so. Once done, rinse the paste off with warm water. Using the mask thrice a week can do the trick.
So, these were some of the best face masks for hyperpigmentation which you can apply in times of a beauty crisis. The best quality about these masks is that they treat hyperpigmentation naturally and make use of ingredients which if not already available at your home can be easily bought from stores, that too at a reasonable rate. So, now you can peacefully focus on getting that flawless skin without being paranoid about your blemishes, dark spots or hyperpigmentation.
