Stephon Hendricks, also known by his pen name, Hendrix Sky, has helped a number of people reclaim their happiness in life. His analytical words and profound thoughts have proven effective in the treatment of psychological trauma.
This, however, doesn’t mean that his life’s journey has been without challenge. Hendricks has dealt with a lot of obstacles and suffering. In the world we live in today, there are innumerable issues that we are facing, such as the fear due to the virus resulting in the global economic shutdown. For many, this is enough to cause a significant amount of mental strain.

Warding Off Stress and Burnout
Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can originate from any event or action that makes you feel depressed, anxious, or angry. To put it in plain terms, stress is your body’s reaction to a challenge you experience.
In light of the topic of overcoming stress, Hendricks shares how powerful the mind is. With the mind at peace, anything is possible. To avoid stress, you need to address the way you feel, be it yourself or to a friend. This is why properly communicating the way you feel is important.
You can write out how you feel down in a journal or speak to a professional. Whichever best suits your needs.
What is burnout? Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and lengthened stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands.
To avoid burnout, Hendricks explains how he plans his day and follows a strict routine. He begins his day with mindfulness exercises such as meditation and clears out his intention for the next 24 hours. Following this, he lists out what he is grateful for. This helps him begin his day in a positive mindset, and the rest of the day is carried out based on a well-ordered schedule, helping him stay organized and on top of his schedule.
As humans, we face obstacles every day. These obstacles either make us or break us in the long run, depending on how we deal with them.
To say the least, Hendricks’ journey has been quite difficult. “I wouldn’t wish any of what I’ve been through on my worst enemy. I have been through situations that would leave people numb for the entirety of their lives,” Hendricks explains.
While in Afghanistan, as part of the Canadian military, Hendricks was witness to several of his close comrades lose their lives in front of him. When Hendricks finally returned home to Canada, he came home to the news that both his mother and son had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Tragically, they both died months apart within the same year.
As someone who has experienced a tremendous amount of pain, Hendricks believes that you can’t truly and completely overcome some obstacles on your journey through life. Some obstacles will leave scars forever. Hendricks goes on to explain that you can change your perception on life, filter your circle, and remove anything that doesn’t add to your life’s mission.
In order to move on from obstacles, you should embrace things that make you feel whole, comfortable, and guilt-free, Hendricks explains. Once you come to the realization that these are the only things that need to be done, all the obstacles that served as roadblocks in your life will begin to seem less like obstacles and easy to defeat. Thus, the healing journey begins.
Dealing With PTSD?
PTSD is a disorder characterized by failure to recover after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event. Most people fail to recover from PTSD even months after experiencing the traumatizing incident.
Hendricks advises anyone experiencing PTSD to keep fighting, that it gets better. “You need to do keep reaffirming to yourself each morning that you’re worthy, good enough, and resilient”, Hendricks explains.
You should also surround yourself with people who genuinely love, support, and believe in you. Try and steer clear of toxic energy. This kind of energy will drive all the positivity in you out and will always find a way to make any negative situation seem insurmountable.
You should also practice the habit of being grateful for everything in your life. Treat people the way you want to be treated, be mindful of the people around you, and show more love to yourself. Life after a traumatic experience can be difficult but it shouldn’t define your life. Set goals and dream bigger than you’ve ever imagined. Life is full of surprises and comes with twists and turns but staying committed to your healing is key to arriving at your final destination and ultimate happiness.
