Recently, I sat down with Jimmy DeFalco, Jimmy is a confidence coach and former addict. I asked him about his story, struggle, and journey to success.
Hey Jimmy, how old are you, where are you from, and what do you do?
Jimmy DeFalco: I will be 33 on Fathers Day, June 16th. I was born and raised in Orlando, FL. I am a Motivational and Educational speaker and Mindset Coach.
What motivated you to be an entrepreneur?
Jimmy DeFalco: When I was at my lowest of lows hooked on pain pills, I lost my car, my job, my family and was on the verge of losing my life. I remember falling to my knees screaming at God, asking him “WHY?!?! WHY ME?!?!” About 18 months after I cleaned up I was checking all of societies boxes, I got all of my material things back, but I was still unhappy and unfulfilled. So I started asking myself, “What’s my purpose? What am I supposed to do with my life?” Suddenly it hit me! I went through all of those struggles, so I could help others get through their own adversities and develop into the best version of themselves. I decided right then I was going to become a speaker and a coach!
Biggest advice to someone working on building self-confidence?
Jimmy DeFalco: Learn how to keep the promises you make to yourself no matter how big or small the task. If you struggle with confidence, ask yourself this question, “If you had a friend or followed through with their word to you as much as you follow through with your word to yourself, would you trust in and respect this friend?” If the answer is no, then that is the problem. Just as we have a relationship with others, we all have the same internal relationship with ourselves. Every time we tell ourselves we’re going to do something and then don’t, our self-confidence drops, our self-trust drops. Once you can fully grasp, it is not about the task at hand, it is about building that self-trust and confidence within yourself, it becomes a lot easier to follow through with these internal promises. If you can’t trust yourself to wake up at a certain time, why would you trust yourself to start that business or get that promotion? You won’t! So start small, build your confidence, gain momentum and open your mind up to a whole new world of possibilities of what you’re capable of.
What current projects are you working on?
I am also shifting from one on one coaching to a group program to create a network of successful professionals looking to take their personal life, spirituality, and business to the next level. This program will launch the third week of June.
How have you leveraged Personal Branding?
Jimmy DeFalco: Yes! Personal branding has been a huge component of scaling my business. I have a podcast and have been actively growing my brand on Instagram. Personally, I see personal branding as the best move an individual can make in 2019.
What does your average day look like?
- I wake up at 5:00 am and go through my morning routine which takes about an hour and consists of:
- Hydrate with water and apple cider vinegar
- Positive video/podcast 15-20 minutes while stretching
- Visualization practice
- Then from 6-8, I work on deep work. Anything that needs creativity, content development, writing, podcast outlines.
- 8-9 I run, fasted, and eat breakfast.
- 9-4 coaching calls and client outreach.
- 4-6 Gym
- Then time with my sons, they’re 5 and 2, or back to work or me time.
- Before bed I write my power list, 5 tasks for the next day mediate and read my bible.
What are your 5 core principles?
- Get a clear vision & build self-confidence to act on it
How important has Self Education been?
Jimmy DeFalco: Self-education has changed my life! People can tell me do this or to do that, it’s beneficial for me! But I find it hard to implement something on a daily basis until I understand WHY and HOW it benefits me. That is why I study NLP, Neurolinguistics. It is a basic understanding of human behavior and how to manipulate the human mind to get the results we want out of life. Educating myself on the human mind is one of my passions!
What are your future plans?
Jimmy DeFalco: I am building a self-development empire! I want to travel the world and work with people from all cultures, to help them access their full potential. I also want to transition to working for larger companies as a Mindset Consultant to shift the internal culture of the organization over time. So if you aren’t getting the most out of your employees and they have a limiting belief mindset, I am your solution! I know this sounds cliche but I want to impact 1 billion lives by the end of my life.
