MOVERS and SHAKERS Interview with Alexander Valentine

Tell us your name and a little about yourself.
My name is Alexander and I am an Entrepreneur. I am the owner of a small Online Advertising Agency. I have been an entrepreneur for 3 years now.
What exactly does your company do?
I help businesses generate more leads doing digital marketing campaigns for them with Facebook ads, Instagram ads, Google ads.
What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?
The biggest challenge was to go from an introvert not wanting to talk to strangers that I don’t know in real life or on the phone. When I decided I wanted to be an entrepreneur and when I realized I need to reach out to other business owners and actually talk to them it took me probably 6 months before I finally took the step.
When I finally took the step and called my first client it felt good to go out of my comfort zone and I have never looked back since.
What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?
I wish someone had told me a lot of friends and family will not always support you in your journey, and not always understand that you run a business and sometimes you can’t go out to events, clubs because you got work to do.
Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?
My biggest influence is my grandmother, she has always believed in me since a was a little kid. Always told me if I want to become successful I just have to get up and get it. I admire Jay-z because he comes from the projects and he took himself out of that environment started his own record label with a credit card with his friend and look where he is today. He is not only a musician, but he is also a brand, a mogul. I like Gary V too, I think what he does is pretty cool talking to the young generation.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are?
Yes, my whole family. We are really close but my Grandmother and my mother did so much for me when I was a little kid and always told me that whatever I choose to do I would be successful.
What do you see as your greatest success in life?
Would definitely say starting my own business, it is hard if you don’t do market research and if you don’t have the right mindset so I am glad I had all that when I started my agency. Me being able to make money online is my greatest success in my life this far.
