MOVERS and SHAKERS Interview with Savion Thompson

Tell us your name and a little about yourself.

My name is Savion Thompson, born in Dekalb county, but raised on the NAWF in Gwinnett county. Hustling has always been in my blood. When I was younger my parents didn’t believe in spoiling their kids, so we found ways to make income. My first hustle was selling rocks & string in the 5th grade. As I transition to middle school one of my childhood friends & I started our own landscaping company. Hustling was just a small portion of my life. I became a rising baseball star in my community & had dreams to play Major League Baseball.

What exactly does your company do?

Miyagifaith is a creative brand. Some may call it a clothing brand, but I tend to have this company produce a variety of products such as clothing, cologne, house accessories, etc.

What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?

This chapter of my life I call “Chances Make Champions”. This was adopted because I’ve spent 3 years at Savannah State playing sports & studying Civil Engineering. I dropped out to pursue my passion for this brand. Many people say you’re risking it all for something that is almost impossible to achieve. God gave me a gift; this is my purpose in life. Hard work plus faith will eliminate risk.

What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?

You’re the oldest & youngest you’ll ever be at this very moment. What you do now will determine what your future looks like. Dream BIG! If you reach for the sun you’ll fall on the moon.

Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?

Tyler Perry has set the tone & is a living testimony that anything is possible. If you put God first & work hard dreams will become reality.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are?

My pops once told me, “We come & die in this world by ourselves, but we CANNOT live in this world but ourselves”. This means everyone is going to need some sort of help. God put us here to help others not to let others struggle alone. He also told me to get everyone involved with your goal because it takes a village to get to the top.

What do you see as your greatest success in life?

My greatest success will be Miyagifaith being the biggest brand in the world.
