MOVERS and SHAKERS Interview with Terrance Wilkinson

Tell us your name and a little about yourself.

My name is Terrance Wilkinson, and I go by the name of T. Wilk and I’m a photographer from Atlanta that works at cam Kirk studios. I mainly shoot artist and document the music industry here in Atlanta.

What exactly does your company do?

I’m a photographer that works for Cam Kirk Studios. We have a creative space where people come for anything from listening parties to interviews, photoshoots and video shoots.

What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?

Being a younger freelance photographer my main obstacles come from shooting with bigger artist and learning how to get paid from labels and just marketing myself right, so basically dealing with the business side of photography that young creatives may not know.

What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?

Stay consistent. Always improve, don’t get comfortable. Learn how to do business, it’s bigger than just taking pictures if you want a career.

Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?

Cam Kirk because of the way he has impacted lives and changed the culture and it all started with a camera. Also, John Rose because he has done the same for the culture but he isn’t a photographer.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are?

I would say getting me to take things seriously is John rose, gave me inspiration in high school when I didn’t have anyone to look up to. And also Marley because of a daily basis, he keeps me sharp and focused on my goals.

What do you see as your greatest success in life?

Shooting a Nike campaign for super bowl 53 career-wise. And just life, in general, will be graduating.
