MUA Rachel Bruno: Combining Eastern & Western Makeup Artistry

I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Los Angeles-based Makeup Artist, Rachel Bruno. Originally from Indonesia, Rachel mixes her Eastern and Western style of makeup artistry. As a Professional Certified Makeup Artist, her main goal is to help clients look and feel their best. Rachel is committed to searching for the latest techniques and trends in the industry to deliver a service that is second to none.
- What inspired you to delve into the beauty industry as a Makeup Artist?
I believe that women deserve to look beautiful at all times. The beauty industry was a gateway for me to explore how to use an art form to create inspirational work for others. I believe that even the slightest amount of makeup can boost the confidence of women as they go about their daily lives. I use my service to cater to the needs of those looking for glamour and empowerment.
- You are a Makeup Artist on a mission choosing to only use cruelty-free makeup. How has the experience been for you?
The experiences I’ve had with cruelty-free makeup have been amazing. I no longer worry if the products I am using have harmed any animals. I also believe in using makeup products that are eco-friendlier because they are better for the environment. If we have the option to utilize makeup that can contribute to the well-being of our planet, why choose anything else?
- Please share with us some of the challenges you face as a Makeup Artist in such a saturated industry.
There are so many wonderful makeup artists currently in the industry. It can be difficult to create makeup looks that haven’t been attempted before. From this, I have to work even harder to create looks that are both intriguing and inspiring. I think being Indonesian and living in Los Angeles has led me to create unique looks that incorporate both my Eastern and Western influences.
- What have been some of your most rewarding moments?
Creating looks that my clients absolutely love is rewarding for me. It’s always a pleasure to see their smiles as they look at the final product I’ve crafted for them. I always feel good when I achieve the look they had envisioned.
5. What are your favorite looks to create?
I’m incredibly excited about performing beauty glam for my clients every day. Any work of mine that causes my clients to feel amazing and better about themselves are the looks I cherish the most. I like to incorporate what my clients ask of me combined with the ideas I have for them. I found that mixing my experience with the requests of my clients have resulted in many unique and breathtaking looks.
- Share something you would like the world to know about you?
I am humbled and grateful for all the success I have achieved in my career so far. I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2010 and continue to earnestly pursue everything this field has to offer. I enjoy building long term relationships with my clients and value all the friendships that have been fostered. Connect with me at https://www.rachelbrunomakeup.com/
