Read on to find out more! Indian eVisa Airport and Seaports for Entry

What is an Indian eVisa?

An Indian eVisa is an electronic travel authorization that allows eligible foreign nationals to enter and exit India through certain designated airports and seaports. It is valid for a single journey of up to 60 days and can be obtained through the Indian government’s official website.

The Indian eVisa was introduced in 2014 and has since then simplified the visa application process for many foreign travelers. Prior to the introduction of the eVisa, travelers had to submit a physical application and supporting documents to an Indian embassy or consulate, which could take several weeks to process. With the eVisa, applicants can fill out the application online and receive their visa within a few days.

There are currently 33 designated airports and 7 seaports where travelers with an Indian eVisa can enter India. These include all major international airports, such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. For a full list of ports of entry, please consult the Indian government’s website.

When exiting India, travelers with an Indian eVisa are allowed to use any immigration check post along India’s land borders, as well as the seaports of Chennai, Cochin, Goa, and Mangalore. For a full list of ports of exit, please consult the Indian government’s website. Indian eVisa ports allowed for exit

How to Get an Indian Visa?

Assuming that you are not an Indian national, in order to get an Indian visa, you will need to apply for one prior to your arrival in India. This can be done either through the Indian embassy or consulate in your home country, or online through the Indian eVisa portal.

If applying for an eVisa, you will need to have a valid passport, a recent passport-sized photograph, and a credit or debit card in order to pay the visa fee. The process is relatively simple and straightforward, and once your application is approved, you will receive an email confirmation with your eVisa attached. Print this out and bring it with you when you travel to India.

Once in India, you will need to present your eVisa at the immigration counter upon arrival. You may also be required to provide additional documents such as your flight itinerary or hotel booking confirmation. After your identity has been confirmed and your visa is verified, you will be stamped into the country and allowed to enter.
