Q: How have you been able to grow your business? Go specific.

A: Creating an extremely professional free course giving away all the secrets of building a business around a podcast that people can’t find anywhere else, then personally emailing every single person that signs up!

Q: How many hours a day do you work on average?

A: It depends on what we define “work” as. Most of what I do is pretty fun, so, even though I do “work” 8 hours in a day, it doesn’t feel like it. This is the beauty of my philosophy, “Don’t make a living, design a life.”

Q: What was your key driving force to become an entrepreneur?

A: From the ages of 16 to 18 and a half, I worked at a restaurant called “Firebirds.” I was a good employee. I did what I was told, and thensome, going above and beyond often times. But, after two and a half years there, I was burnt out from cleaning tables, drains, and urinals all while being treated poorly for $10 per hour. When I got out of there, I said, “Never again.” I promised to never work for anyone ever again, and I’ve made good on that promise. Everything I did after that was in the name of never having a normal job working for someone again. It paid off.

Q: How do you generate new ideas?

A: In studying for my in-person interview in front of a live audience in New York City with James Altucher, I came across a simple but unorthodox technique in James’s book, Choose Yourself. James carries a waiter’s pad with him everywhere to write ideas on. Each day, he writes at least ten ideas. The goal is not to have 3,650 per year. As James writes in a blog post, “When Tiger Woods is practicing he doesn’t get disappointed himself if he doesn’t hit a hole in one every shot. You’re just practicing here.” In our interview, James talked about how to develop a “jacked idea muscle.” Now, I follow his practice too.

Q: Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful entrepreneur?

A: No. Life is not one-size-fits-all. The simple idea that changed my life and led to all of the good things in my life today was learning to make decisions without hesitation because the more time I have to think about something, the more likely I am to overthink it and probably blow it, if I haven’t already talked myself out of it. So, if you’re a chronic overthinker like I am, the best thing you can do for yourself is to decide without hesitation because, as The Richest Man In Babylon states, “Men [and women] of action are favored by the Goddess of Good Luck.”
