Instagram is, arguably, one of the largest social media platforms available today. Social media, in general, has become one of the most powerful tools for entrepreneurs. From launching ads to creating pages for their companies, social media has opened the door for interaction between companies and customers. As the importance of social media continues to grow, many look for outside help in growing their pages. I had the opportunity to sit with Vince Van Meer (@vincevanmeer) from Rocketviral. Vince specializes in growing pages into brands.
Vince explained that he learned first hand how to grow a page “I used to have large fashion Instagram pages, with 500K+ targeted followers. Brands started contacting me to promote them, after doing this for a year I figured out it would be better to start my own brand” he explained. Vince began to understand what his audience enjoyed, and what continued to make his audience grow. Eventually, he decided to focus on his own brand. He realized that many ads lowered his engagement greatly. Upon discovering Vince’s success, many reached out to him to see if he could help their pages reach the same amount of success.
Luckily, through his own trial and error, Vince knew just how to do this. He set out to help others grow. Vince used the engagement tool on Instagram to see what posts received the most likes, shares, and comments (otherwise known as engagement). He then continued to post content similar to the ones receiving the most engagement. This creates organic growth for the pages. By providing content that cannot be found everywhere else, the audience is given a reason to continue visiting the page, and thus, rather than look for the page regularly, they follow it.
Once a page begins to grow, Vince specializes in asserting the page as a brand. Brands are considered a larger asset as they provide customers with credibility before the purchase is made. Upon seeing the social proof of a company or person, they are in turn seen as more trustworthy. This social proof and personal branding have the potential to lead to that little blue check that so many searches for. Over the course of the past 9 years, Instagram has become a large source of entertainment and information for many. As the page continues to expand its reach, growing a diligent following becomes more and more valuable for business and people.
