How Erika Del Toro became a self-made millionaire

Who doesn’t want to be a millionaire — that too without money? Being rich, in fact, is usually the dream of every person. Whilst we all aspire to be rich, but very few among us are really able to accumulate extraordinary wealth, and then we tend to believe that millionaires are born, not made. However, this perception is not entirely true. Not all millionaires have inherited their wealth. In fact, there is an equally good number of people who have been able to make a lot of money without inheritance or upfront investment.
A big influence in the Latina community, Erika Del Toro managed to create amazing opportunities for herself and her PHP Agency.
Moving to the U.S was the first part of Erika’s journey, as she always knew that she was going to make things happen for herself. Her gut instinct always reassured her, and she was focused on being an entrepreneur and making a name for herself. Del Toro describes herself as a self-made millionaire, a life insurance agent, and one of the first Latinas to cross a million in income as an agent. Erika is also the co-owner of PHP agency alongside her siblings.
When we say it is possible to be a self-made millionaire with no money, we in no way are propounding a get rich quick money-making scheme or espousing something that is not within the framework of the legal system. It is absolutely possible to become a millionaire from the ground up without any money, but there is no shortcut to this process. There are plenty of real-life examples of people, who have made it big through their own efforts. They have done it without, very little or no money, but the common theme among all these people is an attitude to triumph, perseverance, dedication, and a single-minded focus to achieve their goals.
She plunged into real estate after many people advised her to read self-development and entrepreneur books. After succeeding in that field Erika’s sister suggested they dive into the life insurance industry. Although the idea of starting a new company from scratch was nerve-racking, Del Toro always says success tastes good after the struggle, and diving into that side of the industry was one of the best decisions she has made.
You won’t become a self-made millionaire by sitting in a cubicle, making other people rich. You succeed by having dreams and goals of your own and being driven to see them through. Self-made millionaires have ambitions and are willing to take risks to make those happen. They are passionate and relentless in their mission to succeed.
But dreams need a framework to follow in order to become a reality. Successful people know they must set highly defined goals with hard deadlines. They set short-term goals and long-term goals. They write to-do lists. They know exactly what they want and how to get there. While the middle class sets their expectations at achieving comfort, self-made millionaires push beyond the average. They believe in creating their own opportunities.
1. Work Harder
If you want to be a self-made miracle success story, you’re going to have to work and study a lot harder than everybody else. You’re going to have to constantly push yourself—never let yourself get complacent, stop learning, or cease seeking out new challenges. Make to-do lists and complete them. Then make new ones.
2. Read
Reading is the number one thing you can do to boost your chances of success. You’ll get new ideas, stay on the cutting edge of every conversation, and generally just stay smart and sharp. Which, if you want to be a millionaire, is what you’ll need to do. Grow your knowledge and skill base as widely as possible. Develop interests and pursue those interests doggedly. Be the best at something.
3. Find a Mentor
You should already be surrounding yourself with successful, like-minded people. It’s great to shift your own outlook and build some momentum. But take care to single out a mentor. Yours could be a parent, teacher, career mentor, yourself, or even a character in a book. The point is to choose someone you admire, whom you can emulate, and become more successful in the process.
When asked what legacy would you like to leave behind for yourself? Erika Del Toro responded with: “I was able to inspire my Latin community that anything is possible. Success tastes good after the struggle, is one of my own quotes. What I mean by that is when you work hard you can accomplish anything.”
