AI-Powered Spinning Tools: What Are They And Should Content Managers Rely On Them?

Digital Marketers have been consistently leveraging Artificial Intelligence for content marketing for quite some time now. Content creation via AI-powered spinning tools is one of the key areas where AI has proved impactful.
The automated article rewriting systems churn out a set of text carrying the same meaning as the original text fed into it by relying on gigantic databases in conjunction with machine learning.
The idea is to create multiple variations by replacing specific words or entire sentences with alternate versions, to be used and distributed across various mediums. Doing so erases the possibility of content duplication – a cardinal sin as far as Google’s algorithms are concerned.
For instance,
Consider an original phrase such as…
“The dynamics of content marketing have been heavily influenced by article spinners.”
when entered in an AI-powered spinning tool, it turned into:
“The aspects of content marketing have been incredibly impacted by text rewriters.”
Not bad, huh?
Of course, since an automated system produces it, the text is not perfect and may sound like something coming out of a Russian immigrant still learning to speak English.
Remember, the object is not to create quality content rather unique content that may not carry any value for the reader but pass automated search engine plagiarism detectors.
It’s still not a very bright idea to generate content through AI-powered spinners.
Bending the Rules? Yes.
Does it rattle Google? It does
Keep on reading to find out why.
Why Is Article Spinning So Popular Among SEO Experts?
Producing good quality versions of the same blog or article can be both time-consuming and resource-intensive, and there is only so much you can humanly re-word anyway. Meanwhile, spun articles fulfill content marketing’s intent from the SEO perspective – the creation of multiple pages of text closely related to the same topic, which can be used for backlinking.
Can AI-Powered Spinning Tools Be Depended Upon By Content Marketers?
A Big No!
Here Is Why:
High Margins Of Error
After analyzing end-results produced by the top 10 spun content generators, I discovered that the replaced content was inaccurate or lost its meaning entirely. Even the most advanced article spinners do not create. They merely modify, leaving room for extensive editing and proofreading, thus beating the purpose!
Consider, for instance – Google Translate – which produces high-level translations of the text entered. However, it fails to provide accurate translations and only conveys a general meaning, which means one can’t rely on the output. Imagine the level of resources Google dedicates to Google translate. If a highly sophisticated system can’t process the complexities of the English language, how can a small scale tool be expected to produce error-free original text effectively?
The Godfather Disapproves!
The spun content is a part of unsavory SEO practices – Black Hat SEO without a doubt and such runs the risk of inviting the wrath of the unforgiving Godfather of web-search – Google.
Algorithmic updates such as Panda and Penguin aimed explicitly at thwarting this practice can lead Google to identify spun texts as spam or gibberish – a sheer violation of Google webmaster guidelines. Consequently, Google might end up burying the search rankings in a bottomless pit in the middle of nowhere. (Google goes to vast lengths to detect and deter this type of search engine manipulation)
It’s A Temporary Fix
Using spun content as part of the link-building strategy might work for a while until it doesn’t! A viable content marketing strategy ultimately needs “great” content to rank higher. This feat is impossible with spun content in the longer-term since Google’s algorithms are too smart to let the spun content escape their radars. You cannot afford to have your content lose its value as per Google’s algorithms for apparent reasons.
Final Thoughts
Using article spinners or rewriters to fulfill content is not the best strategy for content marketers trying to scale quality content production without breaking the bank. When the push comes to shove, it might cost a lot more than the savings it brings.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for a human when it comes to rewriting text – at least not yet.
