Apple is back with its three new smartphones along with a new iPad, iWatch, Apple TV+, and much more. Yearly awaited iPhones hit the screen and the names go like this- iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Being the most affordable among the three, iPhone 11 is a successor to iPhone XR- kind of. With dual-camera setup including 12MP wide lens plus 12MP ultra-wide lens, ultrafast Apple’s A13 Bionic chip under the hood, new colors, and better build, iPhone 11 is not much of an improvement to iPhone X series. Starting at $699, this might fit into the budget of most of the people. But, is it worth buying? Is it worth to wait for next year’s iPhones as they are going to be having cutting-edge tech? Is it a worthy upgrade from your previous iPhone? Let’s check it out in iPhone 11 review below:
Design and Display
There is nothing to say much about the new iPhone 11 except its back panel has seen some significant changes. The dual rear camera squared setup with the flash sitting beside and the Apple logo moving to the middle, these are all the changes you can see from the first look. Same notch, the same design with minimal side bezels, same heft, and same size configuration, this phone does resemble with iPhone XR. On the right, you get to see a lock button while the left edge has volume rockers. Talking about the change, this year’s iPhones don’t have stereo speakers but offers spatial sound system giving you a theatre-like feel. iPhone 11 is a premium device that’s for sure! The front and back glass is strengthened- believed to be the strongest glass back. Long put short, iPhone 11’s design has not gone through some heavy crafting. If compared to last year’s iPhones. Coming to the display, this year’s iPhone 11 packs a 6.11-inch Liquid Retina HD Display with IPS technology and pixel resolution of 1792 x 828 at 326ppi. Again, this is not any closer to Samsung or OnePlus flagship’s high-resolution display but better than last year’s iPhone XR. The colors come out bright and beautiful- just the movie-watching experience you want. With the spatial sound system, it even gets better. The device is rated IP68 water-resistant. It comes in five color variants: Black, Green, Yellow, Purple, Product Red, and White.
Under the hood, Apple iPhone 11 carries the A13 Bionic chip- fastest on the planet Earth right now. Talking about the chipset, A12 Bionic chip which was better than Snapdragon 855 gets a big upgrade. There will be hardly any chipset that can beat the new A13 Bionic in the coming year. No doubt, this iPhone 11 is a powerhouse when it comes to performance. Gaming on this device has become more fun and so does multitasking. The iPhones will see iOS13 soon and Apple has brought many tweaks to make the user experience better. Long put short, iPhone 11 has got a major bump when it comes to performance and software- got brilliantly better than before.
The new iPhones are all about the new cameras and the new features in it. Talking about iPhone 11 cameras, this device packs dual camera setup including 12MP Wide (f/1.8 aperture) and 12MP Ultra-Wide camera (f/2.4 aperture). The whole Apple event revolved around the cameras of this iPhone and the bigger model ones. And truly, this time Apple has managed to bring the best out of its snappers. Looking at its competitors, Apple has decided to bring Night Mode and it works brilliantly fine. Another new feature in the camera- you can take slo-mo videos with the device’s front camera which is a 12MP sensor. All in all, the cameras are the biggest USP of this device and you are paying $699 for that.
Talking about battery life, Apple’s new iPhone 11 has got 1 hour longer lasting battery than iPhone XR. FYI, everyone went gaga after the iPhone XR battery last year. The good news doesn’t stop here- Apple has finally added an 18W adapter in the box which can charge the device up to 50% in just 30 minutes. There is no reverse charging in any of this year’s iPhones but they support Wireless charging. Getting better battery life backup is a treat to have on this iPhone!
It seems like Apple-designed iPhone 11 keeping in mind that its biggest competitor is going to be iPhone XR. If you are looking for the best performance, best software, premium hardware, and great camera setup at $699, the iPhone 11 might entertain you. But, this phone hasn’t got much in its bag like cutting edge tech, in-display fingerprint sensor, and bezel-less screen, reverse charging or 90Hz display. So, if you are looking for some upgrades like that, this year’s iPhones might disappoint you. If you want to upgrade from last year’s iPhone, then also, this device hasn’t got some bigger things to attract the audience. Just an iterative version of XR with minor upgrades is the story of the iPhone 11.
