Dr. Nina Bal – Redefining Facial Sculpting

High-tech innovations in the 21st century have found a way to makes its presence felt in every industry, and the beauty industry is no exception. While age-defying treatments and cosmetics have been flooding the market for decades, currently the means of preserving youth have reached epic proportions. Cosmetic treatments these days are no less than minor medical procedures, but what is truly fascinating is the accessibility to these treatments. No longer a domain of the wealthy, these procedures have forayed into the world of the upper-middle class, and how.
Facial sculpting, a relatively newer branch in the field of cosmetic treatments, find a great many takers and unsurprisingly so. Also known as facial contouring, it can be loosely defined as improving the appearance of the face by ‘sculpting’ the planes and contours by a number of methods like simply a combination of strategically placed injectables, botulinum toxin or dermal fillers, to implants, fat removal, graft and tissue transfers, bone trimming and in some cases surgical reconstruction. A less intrusive method would involve strategically injecting minuscule amounts of botox and dermal fillers, to pause the effects of aging (wrinkling, saggy skin, etc.). The obvious target audience is the demographic looking to arrest their youth, mostly women, but it also finds it uses elsewhere. Facial sculpting is generally preferred by women who want to soften their features and make them more ‘feminine’, while in men it is used to give them the appearance of being more chiseled. For these reasons, it is also popularly used by patients undergoing gender reassignment surgeries.
In popular culture, television is normalizing procedures like these by introducing them in ‘makeover’ style reality shows. One such popular show in the UK is the Bodyfixers, which following its phenomenal success in its first season, reprised the second installment with a new addition to its panel of experts – official cosmetic dentist Dr. Nina Bal.
Dr. Bal is a Cosmetic Dental Surgeon and Aesthetics Doctor who graduated at the top of her year, BDS magna cum laude, in 2008. At a very young age, this gifted doctor managed to acquire memberships to some of the most celebrated outfits like the General Dental Council and British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and SaveFace (the National Register of Accredited Practitioners who provide non-surgical cosmetic treatments). Once she set up her practice, it was only a matter of time for her to gain a steady stream of grateful patients. Her work spoke volumes and soon enough she became something of a social media star, particularly on Instagram. This was how the producers of Bodyfixers zeroed in on her and the rest is history.
When it comes to Facial Aesthetics, Dr. Bal specializes in a few treatments in particular, namely, Botox, Facial sculpting, Fillers, Lip Treatments and Skin Rejuvenation. Her philosophy is ‘less is more’ and believes in doing many smaller tweaks than drastic changes for a better overall result. By using the Golden Ratio of Beauty – a mathematical algorithm of symmetry that governs the perception of attractiveness, she uses subtle ‘edits’ to completely transform a face in minutes!
Dr. Bal has won several awards over the years for her exemplary work – most notably, the Aesthetic Dentistry Awards 2018 in the Facial Aesthetics category – Full Facial Treatment. In 2017, the highly prestigious Dental Awards shortlisted her as one of the best young dentists in the UK. She has also appeared widely in print and publications like Tatler, Forbes, The Evening Standard, Metro, and The Sun, to name a few.
Dr. Nina Bal’s continued excellence in the field of Facial Aesthetics has redefined the meaning of Facial Sculpting, making it a more inclusive and less daunting procedure and accessible to a vast majority of patients who may have been too intimidated to go on with it otherwise. With her expertise and a never-ending passion for the field of Cosmetic Dentistry and Aesthetics, one can expect a great many miracles from Dr. Bal’s repository in the future!
